Please note: a home inspection is not a required element of purchasing a home but IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. Buying a home is a major investment, and a home inspection may help you protect that investment.
These companies have verified that they are licensed in the State of NY and are listed alphabetically. We do not refer or recommend any specific home inspection company, nor do we endorse any of the companies on this list. We provide this list solely as a courtesy to our clients. You are encouraged to call more than one company and it is recommended that you research additional home inspection companies to determine which company will provide you the services that you feel best fit your needs.
The fees for a home inspection vary. A basic home inspection should cover the electrical, plumbing, structure, appliances, well, septic (if applicable) and wood destroying organisms (termite). Cost will generally run between $475 and $700. If you elect to have tests performed for radon, water quality (lead content, bacteria, other micro-organisms), mold, etc., additional fees may be charged.
When you decide which firm you want to work with, schedule a tentative time and date that fits into your schedule (if you plan on attending the inspection) and call us ASAP so we can confirm availability and access to the home with the listing agent. We will then confirm with you and the inspection company. It would be helpful to obtain two or three available dates and/or times from them so we can insure that we can get the inspection done as smoothly as possible.
